How We Make a Difference?
Strengthening grassroots leadership: We work closely with youth leaders with lived experiences. In India, we have been working with the federation of survivors of human trafficking, ILFAT (www.ilfat.org), which has been rigorously working to influence the policy landscape as well as social narrative with 15 awards from national and international agencies.
Transnational migrant security through cross-border research and advocacy: Through our collaboration with Tafteesh (www.tafteesh.org) in Southeast Asia, Torii facilitates collective impact initiatives connecting sending and receiving countries, strengthens legal and rehabilitation systems centering agency of the people with lived experience as well as community-driven prevention initiatives.
Mental health and psychosocial programming: Torii engages with mental health practitioners, researchers, and organisations to address the intersection of mental health, intergenerational trauma and healing, and social exclusion, ensuring that marginalised communities have access to culturally responsive support.
